Many great things can be communicated without words and this book is an utter proof. TUESDAY is a book that will give inspirations to readers of all ages; a fantastic book that you can't miss. I was excited to share this book with my children and it turned out they were even more excited about it. Lotus and frogs have been spiritual symbols in Eastern culture and Haiku tradition(Basho: At the ancient pond/A frog jumps into/ The sound of water) and they have taken central stage in this magical and good-humored book. "We love TUESDAY." They exclaimed, "First the frogs are flying.
Even without words, this book comes alive. The clever, playful frogs and their adventures are fun to explore, and you can find something to laugh at on each page-- whether it be the hilarious expressions, or even the unawareness of the humans. Frogs lift off from their ponds, clinging to lily pads. Vivid, lovely illustrations make this a classic children's picture book, guaranteed to amuse all ages. I never tire of flipping through this book, for a laugh, a smile, and a nice 'read'. Floating through town, who knows what mischief they will get themselves into. You have to love those TV watching, dog chasing, floating Tuesday frogs.
A great book to look at with any age child. It makes room for conversation and imagination. This book has no words. The pictures say it all.
The next Tuesday--flying piggies came. In the house, they watch TV and change the channels. The left-over lily pads were left in the street. Then they got stuck in the tree, so they all went back to the pond.
Tuesday by David WiesnerIt happened on Tuesday night. The flying piggies are my favorite part. The police men came to check it out. First the frogs are sleeping by the pond, then they start floating away on lily pads.
When the lilly pads stopped flying, the frogs went back to the pond. Everybody in my class should read this book--and my Dad. Next the frogs go into the house. They flew threw the clothes hanging outside.
I discovered this book when are class did a project in art based on the book. I made Penguins on Ice burgs over the desert. I like Tuesday because you can really understand the story without the words. We had to make something fly like the frogs. Oh by the way this interview is by an 8 year old. Also, I like it because David Wisner put humor in each and every picture. One of my favorite pictures is the one with David Wisner himself eating a sandwich at 12:00 pm and he sees the frogs outside of his window.
